Jammu and Kashmir Medical Counselling 2016 Process Started – Under the Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), candidates are invited to apply for the counselling for admission to different Medical colleges in the State. The counselling process has started on 26th of July 2016. As per a report, we can say that 6,600 students have already registered for the PMSSS in the state. This counselling process will be held till 3rd of August 2016. During the counselling process, every day 400 students will be counselled for different colleges.

The counselling process for the students of Jammu and Kashmir has started from 26th of July 2016 and will be held until August 3. The counselling process is being held at Amar Singh College and Government College for Women at Gandhi Nagar in Jammu.

The Education Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Naeem Akhtar said that “Under PMSSS, 2000 seats are available to the students of Jammu and Kashmir in the NBA accredited engineering colleges across the country” and he also added that “369 seats are also available in various Nursing Colleges.” The Education Minister also said that “Scholarships worth Rs. 75 crore are available to the students under PMSSS in this financial year.”

Candidates, who are under PMSSS, will get the tuition fee by the government and this will be transferred by AICTE to the respective colleges where the candidate is pursuing the course. Apart from this, the maintenance charges, including hostel fee, books and stationery would be transferred to the account of the student concerned under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Below is the distribution of scholarship for different courses.

  • General Courses: Candidate will the scholarship of up to Rs 30,000 per annum
  • Engineering Courses: Up to Rs 1.25 lakh per annum
  • Medical/Dental Courses: Up to Rs. 3 lakh per annum

The Education Minister also said that “Candidates who get admission to various colleges outside the state on its own merit in IIT, NIT, and Central Universities will be eligible to apply for PMSSS.”

The Jammu and Kashmir Medical counselling process will be held until 3rd August, so the candidates are requested to apply for the counselling before the last date. If a candidate misses appearing in the counselling in the assigned date, then they can also apply for the same on the next scheduled date.
