Kerala Private Medical Colleges Counselling under State Government Control – Kerala Private Medical College Management Association (KPMCA) and the State Government of Kerala after a discussion came to an end that all the seat allotment for the Medical seats including management quota will be conducted through a common counselling session. The Supreme Court as well as the Union Health Ministry has issued directives that the all the admission to the self-financing Medical colleges should be on a common counselling based on the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET).

As per the discussion and the new directive passed by the managing authority, 50% of the seats based on merit will be filled only through the entrances conducted by the state government. And they also said that, admission to management and NRI seats will be done by the score of NEET.
This seat allocation will be a complete merit based. In his regard, the examination commissioner has issued a direction. The managements of self-financing colleges had already raised their words when the authority has discussed about the changes. The managements were planning to approach the Center when the state government took the landmark decision.
Apart from that the management of self-financing colleges has protested against the government move regarding medical admissions. The management authority demanded that they should give the privilege to collect the fees that they have decided for the NRI seats.
