MCI Decertifies MBBS Seats in AP Private Medical Colleges – The Medical Council of India (MCI) has decertified a large number of MBBS seats in 3 Medical colleges in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The main reason behind this decertification is that these colleges fail to fulfil the rules and regulations of MCI. The Medical Council of India also stops the admission process for this academic year. These colleges cannot take fresh candidates for different Medical courses in the college. This heavily affects the students in getting admission into the colleges. More than 400 candidates are failing to get into these private institutions.
MCI – Decertifies MBBS Seats in AP Medical Colleges
The Medical Council of India has derecognised the following three private Medical colleges: Maharajah Institute of Medical Sciences, Vizianagaram, NRI Institute of Medical Sciences, Visakhapatnam and Viswabharathi Medical College, Kurnool. During an inspection process by MCI, these mentioned colleges fail to show their yearly facts and hence proves their irregularities.
The main reason of the decertification of 400 seats in these three medical colleges is as follows:
- NRI Institute of Medical College (2012) and Viswabharathi Medical College (2014): The MCI said that these two colleges have not permitted for renewal of permission u/s 10(A) for 2016-17.
- Maharajah Institute of Medical Sciences, Vizianagaram: For this college, MCI reports that the college has not permitted for renewal of permission for increase of seats from 100 to 150 u/s 10(A) for 2016-17. So, MCI stops the intake of 100 seats.
MCI – AP Medical Counselling for New Candidates
The counselling session for new candidates will be started from the month of August. Overall 400 seats are reduced from these three colleges and this will hamper the candidates who had passed the MBBS entrance examination and are waiting for the admission in the colleges.
Thus, the MCI warned these three colleges to rectify their lacunae, or else the system will take a severe action against these colleges. MCI also warned them by saying that if they don’t rectify their deeds, all their management quota seats would be converted to government quota from next year.
