CMC Vellore MBBS admission – Application, seats, eligibility, important dates

CMC Vellore MBBS admission is different from most colleges for one simple reason: you don’t “just fill one form and wait”. You usually have to do CMC’s online application and also go through Tamil Nadu Selection Committee counselling, based on the seat category.

What CMC Vellore MBBS admission looks like:

  • Total MBBS seats: 100
  • Two main routes:
    • Management seats (50 seats)
    • Government seats (50 seats)
  • Inside management seats, CMC uses 3 categories: Open, Minority Network, Staff quota
  • Inside government seats, TN fills seats through state counselling (including a Christian minority portion)

Seat breakup (MBBS)

Management seats (50):

  • Open: 2 seats
  • Minority Network: 38 seats
  • CMC Vellore Staff quota: 10 seats

Government seats (50):

  • 30% Government quota: 30 seats
  • 20% State Christian minority quota: 20 seats

Note: Seat numbers can change if guidelines change, so always cross-check the current year bulletin.

CMC Vellore MBBS Admission: what you should do

Step 1: Decide your category first (this changes your paperwork)

Use this quick rule:

  • Open (2 seats): Anyone eligible can apply. No church recommendation needed.
  • Minority Network (38 seats): Only for eligible Christian candidates recommended by an approved Minority Network organisation. This route comes with a service obligation, so don’t apply casually.
  • CMC Staff quota (10 seats): For children of eligible CMC staff (institution rules apply).
  • Government quota (30 seats) + State Christian minority (20 seats): Filled by Tamil Nadu Selection Committee from the state merit list, as per their rules.

Step 2: NEET UG is mandatory

CMC selection is tied to NEET UG rank/score. So your NEET performance drives everything.

Step 3: Apply on CMC’s online portal

CMC MBBS application is online only. You fill the form, upload photo/signature, and pay the application fee.

Estimated dates (from last year’s MBBS Admission Bulletin):

  • Online application starts: Feb 2026 (Last year it started on Feb 11)
  • Last date to submit application + payment: Mar 2026
  • Last date to submit supporting documents (where needed): Apr 2026
  • Minority Network certification forms deadline: Apr 2026
  • Annexure IV deadline (Code 62): Apr 2026

(For 2026 or later, dates will change—use the same process but confirm the new timeline.)

Step 4: Send supporting documents only if your category needs it

Not everyone needs extra paperwork. You mainly need this if you are applying through:

  • Minority Network
  • Specific recommendation routes like Code 62
  • Any category where forms/certificates must reach the Registrar’s office

Step 5: Minority Network route (only if you’re applying under it)

This is where many students lose time.

What to do:

  • Contact the Minority Network organisation early (don’t wait for the last week).
  • Make sure their certification form reaches CMC before the deadline.
  • Be clear about the service obligation you’re agreeing to.

Also: Minority Network organisations are not supposed to charge big amounts for “recommendation”. If someone demands money like a donation, treat it as a red flag.

Step 6: After NEET results, submit your NEET details on CMC portal

CMC usually opens a window where MBBS applicants enter:

  • NEET roll number
  • score
  • All India rank

Step 7: Apply for Tamil Nadu counselling

This is the part many non-TN students misunderstand:

Even if you filled CMC’s form, seat allotment happens through Tamil Nadu Selection Committee counselling, based on the category you apply under (management/government).

Step 8: If allotted, report to CMC and complete admission

Once you are allotted a seat, you must report within the time given and carry originals + required documents.

CMC Vellore MBBS Fees (what it costs to study MBBS at CMC Vellore)

CMC’s prospectus lists a low tuition and then other college/university fees.

MBBS fee (from Prospectus 2025–26):

  • Tuition fee (per year): ₹3,000
  • One-time college fee at admission: ₹18,000
  • Other annual fee: ₹48,345
  • One-time payment to university: ₹14,985
  • College fee total: ₹84,330

Hostel (approx.):

  • Deposit/advance: ₹10,000
  • Monthly bill (approx.): ₹8,000

Fees can be revised. Always recheck the latest prospectus/bulletin before you plan money.

Cutoff:

There is no single fixed cutoff for CMC because:

  • seats are split into categories,
  • counselling rounds change year to year,
  • and ranks move based on choices + vacancy.

A practical way to estimate your chances:

  1. Track Tamil Nadu Selection Committee provisional lists / allotment lists for CMC categories after NEET results.
  2. Compare your NEET rank with the last admitted ranks in your category and round.
  3. Keep a backup list of colleges because CMC’s open seats are very few.

If anyone promises “guaranteed CMC seat” for money, ignore it.

Important warnings (don’t skip)

CMC clearly warns students about this:

  • No donation / extra payment is accepted for admission beyond what’s in the prospectus.
  • They also warn students not to deal with agents claiming they can “get you in”.

So keep it simple: official portal + official counselling only.

CMC Vellore MBBS FAQ

Is CMC Vellore MBBS only for Christians?

No. There is an Open category, and there are also government quota seats. But a big chunk of seats are linked to Christian minority routes.

Do I have to apply to both CMC and Tamil Nadu counselling?

In practice, yes—CMC requires its application, and counselling/allotment goes through the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee for the relevant categories.

What is Minority Network in CMC?

It’s a category where eligible Christian organisations recommend candidates, and selection still happens on merit (NEET rank). It also includes a service obligation agreement.

Are the dates same every year?

No. The steps remain similar, but dates change every year. Use the latest bulletin.
