For a state MBBS or BDS seat, apply through the process named in that state’s admission notice. Your NEET result is only the starting point. You must also meet the rules for the quota you choose.

MCC and state counselling use separate applications
The usual 15% All India Quota and 85% state-quota split refers to participating government seats. It does not describe every private college or central institution.
MCC also handles notified deemed-university seats. State authorities handle seats covered by their own process. See our MCC counselling guide if you are comparing the two routes.
For example, applying for an All India Quota seat at a government college does not also apply you for a state-quota seat at that college. Complete each application you need.
Check eligibility before using a fee figure
Find the quota you want in the state prospectus. Read who can apply and which documents prove eligibility. Residence, schooling, category and NRI rules can differ between quotas.
Do not apply a government state-quota rule to a management seat without checking it. The cheaper fee shown for one quota may not apply to you.
- Name the college, course and quota you want.
- Find the entry clause that covers you.
- List the documents that clause requires.
- Read the fee notice for that exact quota.

Find your state guide and college list
The guides below explain different parts of the process. A college list helps you research campuses. It does not confirm that every college has a vacancy in your current round.
Where no separate guide is listed, find the state’s official medical admission page and open its current prospectus. This directory covers the state articles available on our site; it is not a complete list of all counselling authorities.
Put each deadline on one sheet
Copy the date and time from your state’s round notice. Registration, payment, verification, choices and reporting may close at different times.

A national coordination schedule does not replace your state’s notice. If the state issues a revision, update the affected deadline and save both notices.
Use the right seat matrix
Read the matrix for your authority and round. Match the course, quota and category before taking the seat count. Keep clear and virtual vacancies separate, as explained in our seat-matrix guide.
Past closing ranks can help you research a choice. They cannot promise the same result this year. Compare ranks for the same course, quota and category.
Check the joining payment and bond before choosing
Add tuition for each fee period, other required charges, hostel and food. Keep refundable deposits in a separate column. Check whether your funds will be available by the joining deadline.

Once you receive a state allotment, use the seat reporting checklist with your college’s actual joining notice.
If you already hold a seat
Before entering another round, read the rules for your current seat and the new process. Check whether you may take part, when you can leave and what money you could lose.
Do not assume that an unfilled All India Quota seat returns to state counselling after Round 2. MCC’s 2026 bulletin describes its separate four-round process.
Does a college’s state decide my application route?
The seat’s quota and counselling authority decide the route. A college in one state may have seats handled by MCC as well as seats covered by another process. Read the matrix entry for the seat you want.
