There are 13 government MBBS colleges in Assam, which offer more than 1500 medical government seats. To date, there is no private college in Assam. The state has one of India’s oldest and best colleges, namely Assam Medial College, Dibrugarh.
Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati (Previously under Gauhati University), and Assam Medial College, Dibrugarh, have the highest number of seats, 200.AMC was permitted an increase of seats from 170 to 200, and GMC, Guwahati, jumped from 156 to 200 under the EWS quota in 2019.

Assam MBBS Admission 2024: The Directorate of Medical Education, Assam, is responsible for most of the admission process. All government medical seats are filled through the NEET Medical exam. Once NTA conducts and releases the NEET result. After that, the All India quota and state quota counseling process starts. There are 15% seats reserved under all India Quota.
