Gujarat is well known for providing excellent Medical education. With 23 government and (18+1) private MBBS colleges, the Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Courses (ACPUGMEC) is responsible for most of the state’s admission process. 15% of seats are under the All India Quota, and the rest belong to the state.
Government medical colleges have a total of 4250 MBBS seats. This includes AIIMS, Rajkot, and all new GMCs opened in 2022. GMC Morbi, Godhra, and Porbandar were established in 2021, and the first batch of 100 seats in each college was approved in 2022. B.J. Medical College and Civil Hospital College in Ahmedabad is one of the oldest medical colleges in the state.
