There are 42 Government MBBS colleges in Maharashtra (including AIIMS Nagpur and AFMC Pune), offering a total of approximately 6,025 MBBS seats (including central and state colleges). There are 38 Private MBBS colleges in Maharashtra (non‑minority + minority colleges combined), offering a total of approximately 5,820 MBBS seats. All MBBS admissions in Maharashtra are through the NEET UG exam conducted by NTA, followed by state counselling via DMER.
This year MCC will be conducting NEET UG counselling from third week of July. Maharashtra continues to feature some of India’s oldest government medical colleges – thousands of candidates from the state appear for NEET each year.
