What is Mop Up Round in MBBS Counselling?

After the first and second rounds of MBBS counselling, many students still wonder – Is there another chance to get a medical seat? This is where the Mop Up Round comes into play.

The Mop Up Round is an additional round of counselling conducted to fill the vacant MBBS/BDS seats that remain unoccupied after the completion of Round 1 and Round 2. Both All India Quota (AIQ) seats and State Quota seats may have a mop up round, depending on the availability.

Who Can Participate in Mop Up Round?

You can take part in the mop up round if:

  • You did not get any seat in Round 1 or 2.
  • You did not report the seat allotted in previous rounds (with conditions applied).
  • You registered fresh during the mop-up registration window.

Candidates who have already joined and are holding a seat in Round 2 of AIQ/state quota are generally not eligible for mop-up.

Process of Mop Up Round

  • Registration on the counselling portal (MCC or state).
  • Payment of fees
  • Choice filling and locking of preferred colleges.
  • Seat allotment based on merit and availability.
  • Reporting to the allotted college for admission.
