NEET UG 2026 Application, Important Dates, Syllabus

NTA will conduct NEET-UG 2026, the common entrance exam used for admission to undergraduate medical courses in India, including MBBS and BDS. NTA is authorized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to conduct NEET across India. NEET replaced AIPMT in 2016.

NEET is conducted every year for admission to 645 medical, 318 dental, 914 AYUSH, and 47 BVSc & AH colleges. NTA’s job is limited to:

  • accepting online applications
  • conducting the exam
  • declaring results and AIR/rank list
  • sharing the result data with the counselling/admitting authorities

MCC/DGHS conducts counselling and allots seats for AIQ and eligible central institutes, while state counselling authorities handle state quota and private college counselling.

NEET UG 2026 Application form

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will invite candidates to fill out online applications for NEET (UG) 2026 for admission to undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions across India. A large number of candidates appear for this examination every year. The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) is not only applicable for MBBS/BDS admissions but is also required for disciplines like BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS.

NEET applications are accepted online only through the official NEET portal. No offline form is accepted.

A practical way to think about the process:

1: Registration

  • create your login
  • get an application number

2: Fill the form + choose preferences

  • personal details + academic details
  • exam city choices
  • question paper language (choose carefully; it usually can’t be changed later)

3: Upload documents + pay fee

Keep your scans ready in advance (students lose time here). In the last official bulletin, NTA required items like a recent photo, signature, and other supporting documents where applicable.

After payment: download and save the confirmation page. If the confirmation page isn’t generated, your submission is not complete.

Tip: Use an email + phone number that you’ll keep active until counselling ends. Many mistakes happen when OTPs and updates go to an old number.

NEET UG 2026 Exam Pattern

NEET is currently a single-day, pen-and-paper test.

As per the most recent official scheme:

  • Total questions: 180 (all compulsory)
  • Subjects: Physics (45) + Chemistry (45) + Biology (90)
  • Total marks: 720
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Marking: +4 for correct, −1 for wrong, 0 for unattempted
  • Languages: offered in 13 languages (English, Hindi, and regional options)

If NTA/NMC changes anything for 2026, it will be clearly stated in the NEET 2026 Information Bulletin—treat that bulletin as final.

NEET UG Exam Date

Right now, if the official notification isn’t out, don’t lock your plan around a predicted Sunday. NEET is often held around early May, but the exact date should be taken only from the official bulletin/notice. It will probably be held on the first Sunday of May i.e. 3 May 2026.

NEET UG 2026 Syllabus

There are some changes to the syllabus of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for this year. For NEET, the syllabus is issued/notified through the official channels and linked in the bulletin. If there are any updates for 2026, they will be published with the NEET 2026 documents.

Until then:

  • study from the official NEET syllabus (not coaching “rumours”)
  • keep an eye on the bulletin + public notices section on the NEET site
