NTA will conduct NEET UG 2026, the common entrance exam used for admission to undergraduate medical courses in India (including MBBS and BDS). NEET is also mandatory for many other undergraduate health courses, wherever the admission rules require it.
It’s important to understand the split of responsibilities:
NTA’s job is limited to:
- accepting online applications
- conducting the exam
- declaring results and AIR (rank list)
- sharing result data with the counselling/admitting authorities
Counselling and seat allotment is NOT done by NTA.
MCC/DGHS conducts counselling and allots seats for AIQ and eligible central institutes, while state counselling authorities handle state quota and many private college counselling processes.
NEET UG 2026 application form (how it usually works)
NEET applications are accepted online only through the official NEET portal. No offline form is accepted.
A practical way to think about the process:
1) Registration
- create your login
- get an application number
2) Fill the form + choose preferences
- personal details + academic details
- exam city choices
- question paper language (choose carefully; it usually can’t be changed later)
3) Upload documents + pay fee
Keep your scans ready in advance and make sure images/signature is in right required format.
After payment: download and save the confirmation page.
Tip: Use an email + phone number that you’ll keep active until counselling ends. Many mistakes happen when OTPs and updates go to an old number.

NEET UG 2026 exam pattern (quick facts)
NEET is a single-day, pen-and-paper (OMR) test.

- Marking: +4 for correct, −1 for wrong, 0 for unattempted

If NTA/NMC changes anything for 2026, it will be stated clearly in the official bulletin/notice. Treat the official documents as final.
NEET UG 2026 syllabus (what you should follow)
For NEET UG 2026, the syllabus has been finalized and published officially. Don’t rely on coaching “rumours” or random PDFs.
Until you personally verify the official syllabus file:
- study from the official NEET UG syllabus only
- match your chapter list to the syllabus topic list
- if any topic is missing in the official syllabus, don’t waste time on it
NEET UG 2026 exam date + key timelines
If the official notification is not out, don’t lock your plan around predicted timelines. Treat any “expected date” posts as guesses until the official notice confirms it.
NEET Mock Test Papers 2026
NTA published both mock test papers and the previous year’s papers for candidates appearing in the 2026-27 session. Candidates must download the whole zip file from the NTA official website for mock test papers. But for previous years’ papers, you can filter out online and then download the paper you need.
Mock test and previous year papers are available at nta.ac.in/Downloads
