There is only one MBBS college in Sikkim- the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) in Gangtok, affiliated with Sikkim Manipal University. The college began MBBS admissions in 2001 with 50 seats, later increased to 100, and then to 150 seats from 2021–22. For the 2025–26 session, all 150 seats are available, with 85% reserved for Sikkim state quota and 15% for All India Quota (AIQ).
Admissions are strictly based on NEET UG scores, conducted by the NTA. Applicants must be at least 17 years old by December 31, 2025, and have secured minimum qualifying marks in PCB & English in 12th grade — 50% for general category, 45% for PwD, and 40% for SC/ST/OBC.
