MCC NEET UG 2026 Fees and Security Deposit Refund: What to Pay and Track

MCC collects a registration fee and a security deposit. The registration fee is not returned. The deposit may be returned if you meet the counselling rules. College tuition is a separate payment.

Keep a receipt for each. This guide covers MCC NEET UG 2026; state counselling and NEET PG have their own rules.

How much do you pay?

MCC route and categoryRegistration feeSecurity depositTotal
Applicable AIQ/central routes: UR/EWS₹1,000₹10,000₹11,000
Applicable AIQ/central routes: SC/ST/OBC/PwD₹500₹5,000₹5,500
Deemed-university route: all categories₹5,000₹2,00,000₹2,05,000

If you select both government and deemed routes, pay the higher deemed amount. Do not add both totals. Source: MCC’s revised UG 2026 bulletin, printed pages 49–50.

For example, a UR candidate paying ₹11,000 should record ₹1,000 as the registration fee and ₹10,000 as the deposit. If eligible for a refund, the amount to track is ₹10,000.

Check the MCC counselling guide for the route you registered for before matching your payment to a refund rule.

When can you lose the deposit?

If you do not join an allotted seat in Round 2 or a later round, you may lose the deposit. The rule calls this forfeiture.

Before submitting choices, ask yourself: “Would I join this college if allotted?” Check its fees, housing and joining requirements before including it.

If you plan to leave a seat, read the rule for your round and complete the required resignation process. Save the confirmation. Our MCC counselling rounds guide explains the wider process.

When will the refund arrive?

The bulletin contains two different timelines. Refund Question 1 gives 15 days to initiate and 30 days to complete refunds from MCC’s counselling-completion notification.

Question 4 instead uses this wording:

“within 15 working days and complete the refund of security deposit within 30 days of publishing the eligible list”

See printed pages 51–52 of the official bulletin.

Because the starting points differ, check the refund notice for your admission cycle before calculating a deadline. Keep the deposit marked “refund pending” until the credit appears in your bank statement. Plan college payments using money already available.

Which account should you check?

The normal refund route is the account or card used for the original payment. Keep it active.

If a parent or relative paid, ask them to check that account. Record the payer’s name beside the receipt so everyone knows where to look.

Are stray-vacancy round fees waived?

The 2026 bulletin allows fresh stray-round registration and requires payment after fresh registration before choice filling. It gives no blanket stray-round fee waiver.

Check the current round notice and your portal payment status before making another payment.

Who handles the refund?

HLL Lifecare Ltd handles the money for MCC. It collects the fees and returns deposits to those who qualify for a refund. MCC calls it the financial custodian.

What to do if your refund is missing

Work through these checks before sending a query:

CheckWhat to do
Admission cycleFind the notice for your counselling year
Refund statusCheck whether the notice lists eligible candidates, processed refunds or failed payments
Payment recordMatch the deposit amount and transaction reference
Bank statementCheck the original payment account
Refund reference availableAsk the bank to trace the credit
Failed refund listedFollow the remedy in that specific notice

A notice published in 2026 may concern 2025

MCC’s 9 June 2026 notice concerns a listed group of UG 2025 candidates whose refunds failed. It asks them to submit Annexure A and supporting documents.

Check the admission year and named group inside the notice. Follow its instructions only if it covers your case.

Keep one payment sheet

Use separate rows for the MCC registration fee, MCC security deposit, college tuition and any college caution deposit.

For each payment, record:

  • Who paid and who received it
  • Amount and payment date
  • Receipt and transaction reference
  • Applicable refund notice
  • Refund amount and credit date, when received

Keep the original receipts after the refund arrives. Match the credit to the deposit you paid. Ask about any difference.

Keep joining records with your receipts. The seat reporting checklist helps you track both in the same folder.

A college bond has its own payment and exit terms. Use the MBBS bond checklist before treating the MCC deposit as your only possible loss.

Frequently asked questions

Is the MCC deposit part of college tuition?

Keep the two payments separate in your budget. Use the college’s own fee notice to confirm the amount due at joining.

Should I rely on the refund to pay joining fees?

Budget with funds available by the college’s deadline. Add the refund to your available balance once it arrives.

What if the original payment account is closed?

Keep the payment proof and look for the official failed-refund instructions covering your case. Explain the account closure when contacting the refund support team.
