Gujarat MBBS Counselling 2026: Eligibility, Fees, Choice Filling and Bonds

Gujarat MBBS counselling is run by ACPUGMEC, the Admission Committee for Professional Under Graduate Medical Educational Courses. It fills state seats under the Government Quota (GQ), Management Quota (MQ) and NRI Quota. MCC handles the separate national routes, including 15% All India Quota seats in participating government colleges, AIIMS Rajkot and participating deemed universities.

Gujarat NEET UG 2026 update, checked on 18 October: Fourth-round stray vacancy choice filling is open. ACPUGMEC (medadmgujarat.org) updated the eligible candidate list on 17 October. Check your eligibility before submitting choices, then read the latest round advertisement for the closing time, allotment date and reporting deadline.

For MBBS admission in Gujarat in 2026, start with the MBBS/BDS section of the official portal at medadmgujarat.org. Keep separate records for registration, choice submission, fee payment and admission confirmation.

Gujarat stray vacancy round 2026: what matters now

ACPUGMEC calls Round 4 the Online (Stray Vacancy) Round. Its current instructions require:

  • Online consent and fresh choices. Earlier choices have been removed.
  • Eligibility for the round, as shown in the updated list and current instructions.
  • No AIQ stray-round allotment. Being allotted an AIQ stray seat makes a candidate ineligible for Gujarat Round 4, even if they have not joined it.

Once you confirm a Round 4 seat by paying the required fee, submitting originals and obtaining an Admission Order, you cannot cancel it.

If you receive a seat but fail to confirm admission, your ₹10,000 refundable security deposit will be forfeited under the notice. You will also be ineligible for an extended stray round, if one is held.

An extended round is possible only if MCC issues instructions. It is not a guaranteed chance to change your decision. Fill only choices you can fund and are willing to join.

What GQ, MQ and NRI mean

GQ, or Government Quota, is a seat category. GQ seats also exist in self-financed colleges, so this label does not guarantee government-college tuition.

MQ, or Management Quota, still follows ACPUGMEC counselling and merit. Paying more does not create a direct-admission route or remove eligibility conditions.

NRI Quota has separate eligibility and document requirements. The candidate or a parent must meet the prescribed NRI condition. Do not assume that a relative abroad offering to pay your fees makes you eligible.

Treat each college-and-quota combination as a separate choice. A college may suit your budget under GQ but be unaffordable under MQ.

Who can apply?

For MBBS admission in Gujarat, you must qualify NEET UG 2026 and meet the applicable admission conditions:

  1. Be at least 17 by 31 December 2026.
  2. Meet the required Class 12 subject and pass conditions for MBBS, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
  3. Satisfy Gujarat’s schooling and birth or domicile rules for GQ/MQ, or a recognised exception.
  4. Provide accepted proof of any category or quota claimed.

NEET qualification alone does not establish eligibility for every state or quota. Check your documents before making a payment or submitting choices.

NEET domicile criteria for Gujarat

Gujarat considers schooling as well as domicile. Under the ordinary eligibility route, candidates must have passed Classes 10 and 12 from schools in Gujarat and satisfy the Gujarat birth or domicile condition.

Your situationWhat to check
Born in Gujarat; Classes 10 and 12 in GujaratRemaining NEET, age, subject and document conditions
Born outside Gujarat; Classes 10 and 12 in GujaratThe prescribed Gujarat domicile certificate
Born in Gujarat; Class 12 outside GujaratWhether a recognised schooling exception applies
Family owns property in Gujarat; schooling outsideProperty ownership alone does not establish eligibility

ACPUGMEC lists exceptions for specified circumstances, including certain defence and government-service families and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya schooling.

If your case depends on an exception, explain it to ACPUGMEC before choice filling. Provide your birthplace, Class 10 and 12 school locations and boards, relevant dates, and the clause you rely on.

Our state quota counselling guide explains why state eligibility must be checked separately from MCC admission.

Category and special documents

ClaimDocuments or process to check
SC, ST or SEBCAccepted Gujarat-issued category certificate; SEBC also requires the prescribed non-creamy-layer certificate
EWSAccepted Gujarat EWS certificate and validity period
NHL or SMIMER local quotaThe institution-specific local-candidate certificate process
PwDPrescribed certificates and medical assessment
NRICurrent NRI eligibility, relationship and supporting records

Check the format, issuing authority, issue date and validity of each certificate. A document accepted by another counselling authority may not meet Gujarat’s requirements.

How registration works

Follow the current registration instructions in this order:

  1. Open the MBBS/BDS registration link from the ACPUGMEC portal.
  2. Purchase the PIN and pay the applicable registration fee and security deposit.
  3. Enter details using your NEET and school records.
  4. Upload the prescribed documents.
  5. Complete the required appointment and verification at a help centre.
  6. Check your merit-list entry and eligibility status.

Payment alone does not complete registration. An uploaded certificate also needs to be accepted during verification.

Save the application acknowledgement and verification record. If a detail is wrong, follow the notified correction procedure and keep proof of your submission.

NEET choice filling 2026 in Gujarat

Before logging in, list every college-and-quota option you would accept. For each option, record:

  • Tuition and other compulsory charges.
  • Hostel, mess and travel costs.
  • Bond and discontinuation conditions.
  • Eligibility and required documents.
  • Previous closing rank, with its year, round and category.

Arrange acceptable options in your genuine preference order.

Worked example: You prefer College A to College B, and both are affordable. College C fits your budget only under GQ. Your list could be:

  1. College A, eligible quota.
  2. College B, eligible quota.
  3. College C, GQ only.

Do not add College C’s MQ option just to lengthen the list. An unaffordable allotment is not a useful backup.

Before the choice-filling deadline

For Round 4, complete online consent and enter fresh choices. Check every entry, save the list, and complete any final submission or locking step required by the portal’s current instructions. Keep a copy showing your submitted preferences.

Do not assume that choices saved in an earlier round remain valid. Check the portal’s recorded status after finishing, rather than relying on having typed the choices into the form.

How to approach the four rounds

RoundDecision to make
Round 1Which seat would you join, and would you seek an upgrade?
Round 2Would you prefer each new choice to your current seat?
Round 3Are you ready to complete admission if allotted?
Round 4, stray vacancyCan you accept and pay for every option submitted?

This table is a decision checklist, not a substitute for the round’s exit and upgrade rules. Before entering another round, establish what happens to your existing seat if you receive a new allotment.

Gujarat’s procedures differ from MCC’s. Before leaving a seat, check the permitted exit window, required process, financial consequences and effect on further participation.

ACPUGMEC also published a list removing candidates admitted through AIQ up to Round 3, based on information supplied by MCC. Check your current eligibility rather than assuming that earlier registration keeps you eligible throughout counselling.

Our seat matrix guide explains how to read vacancy lists. The MCC security deposit guide covers MCC’s separate payments and refund conditions.

Gujarat MBBS fees: compare the quota and admission year

The Gujarat Fee Regulatory Committee’s orders list fees by institution, quota and admission year. Use the column that applies to your batch. Do not use a previous student’s fee or a different quota as your budget.

Ask the college for a written breakdown covering:

  • Tuition and the number of chargeable instalments or years.
  • Hostel and mess charges, including any compulsory residence requirement.
  • University, examination and other compulsory fees.
  • Deposits and their refund conditions.
  • Bond, bank-guarantee and surety requirements.

Do not automatically multiply an annual fee by 5.5. The course length and number of tuition instalments may differ.

Also check how much must be available by reporting day. A scholarship application or loan awaiting approval cannot be treated as money already available for admission.

MBBS bond in Gujarat

A bond can create obligations during the course or after graduation. Read it before choice filling, alongside the fee notice.

LiabilityQuestions to ask
Service bondHow long must you serve, where, and what happens if you do not complete service?
Discontinuation conditionWhat triggers payment, and does it include remaining tuition or other charges?
Counselling security depositUnder which round-specific conditions is it refunded or forfeited?

Some financial-assistance arrangements, including MYSY-related support, may bring rural-service conditions. Ask which bond applies to your college, quota, admission year and scholarship.

Obtain the full document and its annexures before signing. Check the signers, sureties and any solvency or bank-guarantee requirements. Our MBBS bond checklist helps you identify the clauses that matter.

After allotment

An allotment letter is one stage of admission. Complete the confirmation requirements for your round:

  1. Check the college, course and quota on the allotment letter.
  2. Verify the amount due and authorised payment method.
  3. Pay early enough to resolve a failed or pending transaction.
  4. Download the receipt.
  5. Submit original documents and complete help-centre formalities as instructed.
  6. Obtain your Admission Order.
  7. Complete college joining within the applicable deadline.

Keep copies of documents and receipts, including acknowledgement of deposited originals. Check the final admission status in the portal.

If your allotment is through MCC, use our MCC seat reporting checklist for that separate process. Follow ACPUGMEC instructions for a Gujarat state allotment.

Common questions

Can I get direct MBBS admission in Gujarat?

Seats in the state counselling system, including MQ, are allotted through ACPUGMEC on NEET merit and the applicable rules. A higher fee does not create an admission route outside counselling.

Can a student from another state apply for Gujarat management quota?

The ordinary GQ/MQ route includes Gujarat schooling and birth or domicile conditions. Check whether a recognised exception applies before claiming eligibility. MCC routes have their own conditions.

Is there one bond amount for all Gujarat colleges?

Do not assume a universal amount. Read the current bond for your college, quota, admission year and any financial assistance accepted.

Does last year’s closing rank guarantee a seat?

No. It records a past outcome for a particular college, quota, category and round. Use it as context when researching choices, not as an admission promise.
