The Tripura Medical Counselling Committee (TRMCC) runs Tripura MBBS counselling. It works under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Government of Tripura. TRMCC fills the state quota seats. It also fills the seats it counsels in Tripura’s two private medical colleges. MCC, on the other hand, fills the 15% All India Quota seats at Agartala Government Medical College.
Tripura NEET UG 2026 update (20 October): TRMCC published its stray-vacancy educational notice on 18 October. Fresh registration, payment and final submission run from 19 October at 2 PM to 23 October at noon. You can fix discrepancies until 23 October at 2 PM. The PDF lists choice filling from 20 October at 3 PM to 23 October at 5 PM. However, the live UG portal shows a 21 October, 3 PM start. Follow the live portal or a later corrigendum for the actual start. Treat 23 October as the deadline unless a newer notice changes it.
Who runs MBBS counselling in Tripura
| Seats | Counselling authority |
|---|---|
| State quota seats at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) | TRMCC (DME Tripura) |
| Seats counselled by the state at Tripura Medical College and Tripura Santiniketan Medical College | TRMCC (DME Tripura) |
| Tripura’s share of seats at RIMS Imphal | TRMCC (DME Tripura) |
| 15% All India Quota at AGMC | MCC |
| Deemed universities, AIIMS and central institutes | MCC |
You register separately for each process. For example, an MCC registration does not count for TRMCC. Likewise, a TRMCC registration does not give you an MCC application. Our MCC counselling guide covers the national route. For seat details by college, see our list of MBBS colleges in Tripura.
Tripura stray vacancy round 2026
TRMCC’s 18 October 2026 notice allows fresh registration and choice filling. Here is what it says:
- New candidates: Finish online registration, fee payment and form submission by 23 October 2026 at noon. A later corrigendum may change this.
- Registered candidates without an allotment: You can take part.
- Who cannot take part: Candidates allotted a Tripura Round 3 seat, and candidates still admitted from earlier rounds.
- Choice filling: The official PDF says it opens on 20 October at 3 PM. The live portal says 21 October at 3 PM. Both list 23 October at 5 PM as the closing time. Follow the latest live portal announcement.
- Allotment and joining: The notice gives no result or reporting dates yet. TRMCC says it will publish the rest of the 2026 schedule later. Wait for it before you book travel.
Before you lock stray choices: Fresh candidates must finish registration, payment, online verification and choice submission. If you registered earlier but got no seat, you must submit new choices too. If you get a stray seat and do not join, you lose your security deposit.
Use this year’s 18 October notice as your starting point. Do not use 2025 stray-round dates to predict the 2026 result or joining deadline. Also, rely on the current notice, not news reports about earlier rounds.
Important: Fill only seats you will join and can pay for. There is no later round to fix a wrong choice.

Tripura MBBS counselling usually runs three main rounds and a stray round. Our guide to NEET UG counselling rounds explains how rounds work across states.
Colleges and seat types in Tripura
Tripura has three MBBS colleges:
- Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC): The state’s government college, attached to GBP Hospital. TRMCC fills its state quota seats, while MCC fills its 15% All India Quota.
- Tripura Medical College and Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital (TMC): A society-run college at Hapania, Agartala. Its fees are higher than AGMC’s.
- Tripura Santiniketan Medical College (TSMC): A new private college in Agartala. It admitted its first MBBS batch in 2024. It takes part in TRMCC counselling and appears in every 2026 seat matrix.
The TRMCC seat matrix also lists a few Tripura seats at RIMS Imphal in Manipur. You fill these through TRMCC, not MCC.
AGMC’s MBBS intake went up for 2026-27. However, reports give different totals. For example, one September report said NMC added 50 seats. A later one said the Centre approved 100. So, use the Round 3 and stray round seat matrices on the TRMCC portal. They show the vacant seats by college, quota and category.
The private colleges also have seats under “All India other than Tripura”. For instance, the Round 3 matrix listed 48 such vacant seats at TSMC. Our seat matrix guide explains how to read these lists.
Who can apply
First, you must qualify NEET UG 2026. For 2026, the qualifying scores are:
| Category | Percentile | Score |
|---|---|---|
| General / EWS | 50th | 213 |
| General PwD | 45th | 194 |
| SC / ST / OBC (and their PwD) | 40th | 177 |
You must also meet the national rules. You must be at least 17 years old on 31 December 2026. Also, you must pass Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
Tripura permanent resident certificate for NEET
For Tripura state quota MBBS admission, you need a valid Tripura Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC, also called PRTC). You upload it at registration. Then you show the original at physical verification. For this reason, apply for it early if you do not have one.
The rules have some exceptions. For example, earlier bulletins covered certain children of government employees. However, the exact list can change each year. Check it in the 2026 Information Bulletin before you rely on it.
| Your situation | What to check |
|---|---|
| You hold a Tripura PRC | NEET, age and document rules |
| A parent holds a PRC, but you do not | Whether you can get your own PRC in time |
| A parent works in Tripura for the central government | Whether an exception in the 2026 bulletin covers you |
| You have no Tripura link | The “other than Tripura” seats and MCC routes |
Category and reservation documents
Tripura reserves state quota seats for ST, SC, OBC, EWS and PwD candidates. The 2026 seat matrix shows 5% horizontal reservation for PwD candidates. TRMCC also issued a separate notice on PwD seats in Round 1. For the other percentages, see the 2026 Information Bulletin and the seat matrix for each round.
Keep these documents ready:
- ST, SC and OBC: A certificate issued in Tripura. OBC candidates need a non-creamy layer certificate.
- EWS: A valid EWS certificate for the right financial year.
- PwD: A disability certificate in the format TRMCC asks for.
- All candidates: NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard. Also, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, date of birth proof, PRC, Aadhaar and photographs.
Bring the originals to physical verification. A missing or invalid document can cost you the seat.
Tripura MBBS counselling: registration and choice filling
The process follows these steps:
- Register on the TRMCC portal with one application only. TRMCC rejects extra registrations.
- Pay the registration fee and the security deposit.
- Upload your documents.
- Check the merit list for your round.
- Fill and lock your choices before the deadline.
- Download the allotment result.
- Collect the nomination from the DME office, and complete physical verification.
Remember that you cannot change locked choices.
Worked example. Suppose you hold a Tripura PRC, and you prefer AGMC. After checking fees, your family finds it can pay for one private college but not the other. Your list could be:
- AGMC, state quota.
- The private college you can afford, state quota.
Do not add the second private college just to make the list longer. After all, a seat you cannot afford is not a backup. Our college predictor can help you shortlist colleges.
Rounds, deposits and exit rules
Tripura’s rules are not the same as MCC’s. MCC’s free exit and upgrade rules may not hold here. Here is what the 2026 notices and reports showed:
- Round 1: TRMCC set a deadline (12 September, 5:00 PM) to surrender a Round 1 seat and keep the security deposit.
- Not joining: Round 2 allottees who did not take admission lost their deposit. To enter Round 3, they had to pay the fee and deposit again.
- Round 3 upgrade: Admitted candidates could add choices to upgrade. However, they could not remove their current seat. If they got a new seat, TRMCC cancelled the old one.
- No upgrade: A candidate who got nothing new in Round 3 kept the earlier seat. After that, they could not resign from it.
Our MCC security deposit guide covers MCC’s separate deposit.
How AIQ and Tripura counselling affect each other
AGMC’s 15% All India Quota seats go through MCC. The rest of its seats go through TRMCC. You can take part in both, if eligible. However, check each TRMCC round notice for rules on candidates who joined an AIQ seat. Also, once you join a seat in one process, read that process’s exit rules before you move.
Tripura MBBS fees
The official 2026 Information Bulletin sets the registration fee and security-deposit slabs. TRMCC’s 18 October stray notice says the same slabs as earlier rounds apply.
| Item | Amount (as reported for 2026) |
|---|---|
| Registration fee | ₹1,800 (SC, ST, PwD) to ₹2,500, by category |
| Security deposit, AGMC seat | ₹10,000 (₹5,000 for SC and ST) |
| Security deposit, private college seat | ₹1,00,000 |
Tuition at AGMC is far lower than at TMC and TSMC. However, we could not confirm the 2026 tuition figures from an official source. So ask each college in writing for:
- yearly tuition and the number of instalments;
- hostel and mess charges;
- university, exam and other charges;
- any deposits, and when you get them back.
MBBS bond in Tripura
Tripura does use bonds. In Round 2 of 2026, allotted candidates gave a service bond at the DME office before they got a nomination. They also gave a discontinuation bond to the college. Before you sign, ask what each bond costs and how long it lasts. Our MBBS bond checklist lists the clauses to read.
After allotment
Follow these steps once you get a seat:
- Check the college, quota and category on the allotment letter.
- Go to the DME office at Bidurkarta Chowmohani, Agartala.
- Submit the service bond, and collect your nomination.
- Attend physical verification with all original documents.
- Pay the college fee, and sign the college’s discontinuation bond.
- Join the college before the last date of admission.
Our reporting checklist helps with the joining stage.
Common questions
