If you are planning to join an MBBS course in Karnataka, you must attend Medical Counselling. Karnataka is well-known for MBBS, a state with more than 10k seats. The Karnataka MBBS counselling process is straightforward. A huge number of candidates appear in this counselling process, here we will provide complete details of the same. There were two regular rounds of counselling, and if seats remained unfilled, a mop-up round was conducted.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) conducts centralized counselling for admission to MBBS courses in government, private, minority, NRI, and other seats across the state. All candidates who have qualified NEET must register online through KEA’s official portal.

There are 69 colleges, check the complete list of MBBS colleges in Karnataka. The total seats are 11745, in which total government seats are 3750 and 7995 are private. On the other side, there are 45 BDS colleges (3 government and 42 private). There are only 185 BDS government seats and 3280 private.

Seat Types
G – Government Seats: in government colleges + a share in private colleges.
P – Private Seats: management quota in private colleges.
N – NRI Seats: 15% reserved in private colleges.
Q – Other Seats: 5% reserved in private colleges for other categories.
Karnataka MBBS Counselling 2025
The state counselling will be held in the following 5 steps:
- Online Registration – Candidates must register on KEA’s portal and upload scanned documents
- Document verification as per the Notified schedule
- Online choice filling – Enter college and course preferences online; entries made in Round 1 remain for subsequent rounds.
- Allotment of seats
- Reporting process.
- Further Rounds – Participate in Round 2, Mop-Up, and Stray Vacancy if needed.
General Eligibility:
Candidate must have studied from government-recognised institutions in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 academic years commencing from 1st standard to 12th standard and must have appeared/passed either 10th or 12th standard examination from Karnataka State.
OR
Candidate should have studied 11,12 within the state of Karnataka and either of the parents should have studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 Years.

Karnataka MBBS Counselling Schedule 2025
Karnataka MBBS counselling for the academic year 2025-26 will tentatively begin in the 2nd week of July 2025. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct Karnataka NEET counselling 2025 for 15% of All India Quota seats. The remaining 85 per cent will be filled by state authority.

It is only conducted if some seats remain after performing the above rounds. Mostly every year, a stray round is conducted. So, we are expecting there will be a stray round for some leftover seats.
