Chandigarh has one government college for MBBS: Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. GMCH runs its own counselling for most of its 150 MBBS seats, mainly through the UT Chandigarh pool. MCC fills the All India Quota seats. You must apply to each process separately.
Status, 22 October 2026: GMCH held its first MBBS counselling on 24 August, and MBBS classes began on 15 September. GMCH posts any later round or mop-up notice on gmch.gov.in. Check it before you plan a visit.

MBBS seats at GMCH Chandigarh

You must qualify NEET UG 2026. These were the 2026 qualifying scores:

Claiming a UT Chandigarh pool seat
To claim a UT pool seat, you must fit one of the eligibility clauses in GMCH’s prospectus and submit the matching appendix form. The prospectus uses appendices A1 to A5 for these claims. On the 2026 merit list, candidates with a missing appendix, a missing NEET scorecard or a missing Class 10 certificate were marked ineligible.
Category certificates
GMCH did not accept OBC or SC “migrant” certificates, or some certificates issued outside Chandigarh, for reserved seats. Those candidates were placed in the General category on the 2026 merit list. Get your certificate from the right Chandigarh authority before you apply.

How GMCH counselling works
- Apply online and pay the fee before the deadline.
- Check the provisional eligibility list. Fix any document gap by the stated date.
- Find your rank in the combined merit list.
- Attend counselling in person on your date, with all original documents.
- If you get a seat, finish admission at GMCH as the round notice says.
GMCH counselling is offline. You must attend in person; there is no online choice filling for these seats.

- Originals of every certificate you use
- A fresh self-attested, notarised undertaking (affidavit)
- One full set of self-attested photocopies
- Three passport-size photographs
- NEET UG 2026 scorecard and Class 10 certificate
- The appendix form for your UT pool or other claim
Important: GMCH does not accept DigiLocker or other digital certificates. Attested copies are not accepted in place of originals.
GMCH and MCC: check before you join

Fees and bond
